Francesco Calvetti
Full Professor at Politecnico di Milano
Graduated in Civil Engineering in 1992 at Politecnico di Milano, in 1998 he obtained his Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering with a thesis on micromechanics of granular materials.
Associate Professor of Geotechnics at Politecnico di Milano since 2004, he currently teaches Geotechnical Engineering (Construction Engineering-Architecture) and Soil-Structure Interaction (Mater degree in Civil Engineering for Risk Mitigation).
Author of 70 scientific publications, he is member of the Geo-Mechanics Technical Committee from Micro to Macro of the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering.
His main research interests include the design of defense structures for landslides and rock boulders, the study of soil-structure, the application of the Distinct Element Method in Geotechnical problems, rock mechanics and structural engineering, as well as the micromechanical study of granular materials’ behavior.
