The International Master in Sport Design and Management is the unique is organized by two prestigious institutions in the field of education: Politecnico di Milano and Graduate School of Management (GSOM-POLIMI) and in synergy with the most important Italian Sport Institutions: C.O.N.I. (Italian National Olympic Committee), F.I.G.C. (Italian Football Federation), I.C.S. (Institute for Sports Credit) and Lega Serie A.
The International Master in Sport Design and Management places SPORT (in all its forms, declinations and manifestations) at the centre of its project, bringing together, in a unique educational offer, the two “polytechnic souls” of Design (architecture, engineering and industrial design) and Management, thus developing a high-level cultural and professional programme with a multidisciplinary approach and involving speakers, testimonials, stakeholders, companies, federations, organisations that operate in all sectors of the sports industry on a national and global scale.
The two “souls” of the Master (POLIMI + GSOM) are also reflected in its structure. All the part relating to teaching and its scientific contents and its organization is the responsibility of the Management and the Scientific Committee.

The Course is designed as a laboratory in continuous and constant evolution and updating, a privileged observatory in the world of SPORT and at the same time offers an extraordinary network for sharing knowledge, experiences and ideas. The approach of the Master is multidisciplinary and multi-scalar.
The experience of the first 7 years of the Course has confirmed the validity of the choice also in relation to the placement of the students in the different fields of application of the Sport industry.

The 8th Edition 2024-2025 will start with the Welcome New Alumni on Thursday 28 November 2024 at 10:00 in the “Pedeferri” classroom (Building 6, Ground Floor, Campus Milano Leonardo).

IN PERSON
One intensive module per month (3 days in person, usually Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the end of each month) from 9:15 to 13:15 and from 14:15 to 18:15 (possibility of direct interaction with speakers and stakeholders), from November to May in the classroom at the Campus Leonardo of the Politecnico di Milano (piazza Leonarda da Vinci 32), in June a module in Coverciano, in July a module in Rome (see answer on Intensive Workshops).
(Two modules are planned in June and September):
– In June, one in-person module on Campus and one module in Coverciano
– In September, one in-person module with international speakers and one remote module (optional) of BIM-Approach (parametric management)
ONLINE
Every Monday evening (from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm)
All lessons (including those in attendance) can still be followed remotely (Blended mode). A digital platform of the Master’s Community will also be created on which all recordings of lessons (both remote and in-person) and all teaching material (papers, books, regulatory updates, etc.) will be uploaded.
All classes take place in the renovated Leonardo Campus of the Politecnico di Milano, Piazza Leonardo da Vinci 32 – 20133 Milan.
The metro stop is “PIOLA” on the MM-2 (green).
The Campus is 3 stops from the Central Station F.S. of Milan and one stop from the Lambrate F.S. Station and a few stops from the city center.
No. They depend on the competitive calendars of sporting events which in turn are set month by month. The dates and all organizational methods will be communicated well in advance.

Classes will be in English or Italian (with simultaneous translation into English for international students).

This format allows those who already work or find employment during the Master (even through an internship experience) to follow the lessons without problems.
No. However, it is guaranteed to those who request it and it is also customizable with respect to the specific path developed within the Course or with respect to one’s specific aptitudes and professional needs.
The development of an intermediate Project-Work is foreseen (which can be done individually or in a group) and the development of a final Project-Work on a very specific topic of interest to the Candidate and/or in collaboration with companies, speakers, etc.
To obtain the Diploma, a final Master Project-Work is expected to be discussed, to be developed individually, on specific topics. They are very agile projects.
The final PW can be an in-depth study of one or more aspects already addressed in the intermediate PW or it can deal with different topics.
There are various specialist figures such as: facility sports manager, stadium manager, match-operations manager, marketing sports manager, event manager, project manager of complex sports infrastructure projects, BIM manager specialized in design and management systems for sports facilities of all scales and types, etc.

– sports clubs and companies of all levels and types;
– companies and large companies connected to the world of sport (commercial, marketing, communication, event management or production of technical and technological elements and systems such as sports flooring, innovative materials, etc.)
– companies specialized in the design and management of set-up systems for sporting events

– large architecture and engineering firms specialized in the design and management of sports infrastructures of all sizes and types
– departments of Leagues and Federations that deal with operations during match-days of football, tennis, volleyball, basketball, etc.
– offices and departments of public institutions at all levels (Regions, Municipalities, etc.) for the design, construction and management of sports projects (infrastructures, events, European projects, etc.)
– offices and departments of Leagues and Federations at all levels that deal with operations, management of sports events, analysis and data collection, reporting, benchmarking, etc.
